CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD (2025) Directed by Julius Onah

ree

Captain America: Brave New World is the solo first Captain America movie under Sam Wilson after he was handed the shield in Avengers Endgame, and took on the mantle in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. This movie is another addition in the multiverse saga in the wide variety of movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. How does this movie affect the universe, and especially the multiverse saga?

This movie is tasked to be a mysterious thriller and to feel like another Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but it cuts short and misses everything that made that movie good. This movie mainly feels like a sequel to The Incredible Hulk (2008). This movie has many ties and connections to that movie that ends up being brought up in this film, and it's the mystery the viewer needs to figure out. One of the most fascinating things this movie finally brings up to the fandom is the celestial hand that was last talked about in The Eternals (2021). All in all this movie comes up short to be one of the better films in the MCU.

SPOILER TALK

One of the main faults about Captain America: Brave New World is that you need to do your homework. You need to understand everything that has happened in The Incredible Hulk, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers Endgame, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The main villain behind this whole movie is The Leader, who was in The Incredible Hulk, and who has now been recast to Harrison Ford after William Hurt’s passing. If you also have not watched The Falcon and the Winter Soldier you may not know who Isiah Bradley is, as he was introduced in the show.

One of the poorest decisions made in this film was changing his suit after they made the most (comic book) accurate suit in the finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (they decided to change it because he got a cut in the suit in the movie). A big takeaway from this movie is that Thaddeus Ross finally gives Captain America the thumbs up to make the next Avengers team, as he was the one who essentially made them break apart back in Captain America:Civil War. This is important as we have two Avengers films on the way known as Avengers:Doomsday, and Avengers:Secret Wars. One of the most misleading pieces of marketing for this movie was showing off the Red Hulk rivalry wutg Captain America, as the Red Hulk barely shows up in the movie and he is in it for less than ten minutes at the end of the film. The last important piece of this film is the post credit scene as The Leader teases multiple worlds and implies that a big threat is coming.

CLASSIC MOVIE RECOMMENDATION

The Trial (1962) Directed by Orson Wells

ree

Orson Wells is one of the most well known directors of all-time, especially for his work for Citizen Kane. The Trial starts out as a mystery and you are also following every step with the main character being Josef K. If you are looking for a movie that is well shot, and with some of the best writing available at the time (or any other), this is the film for you. Many of us think old movies instantly mean they are bad, but many would argue that Orson Wells' work is better than the majority of films that we see today. Give this movie a chance, and this could be your next favorite movie.
